Classic 50mm Perspective

The VILTROX AF 50mm F2.0 Air is a compact full-frame autofocus prime lens designed for portraits, street photography, travel, landscapes, still life and everyday shooting. Its 50mm focal length provides a natural 47.4° angle of view, offering balanced perspective and a versatile field of view that works well for both individual subjects and scenes with environmental context.

Bright F2.0 Aperture

The maximum F2.0 aperture provides a useful combination of light-gathering capability and background separation. It allows subjects to stand out against a softly blurred background while providing additional flexibility in lower-light conditions. The aperture range extends from F2.0 to F16, with a 9-blade diaphragm that helps produce smooth transitions in out-of-focus areas.

Advanced Optical Construction

The optical system consists of 13 elements in 9 groups and incorporates three ED elements, four high-refractive-index elements and one aspherical element. This configuration is designed to control chromatic aberrations, distortion and other optical imperfections while maintaining high resolution across the image. An HD Nano multilayer coating contributes to consistent light transmission, contrast and color reproduction.

Fast and Quiet Autofocus

Autofocus is driven by an STM stepping motor combined with a lead-screw mechanism. The system provides fast, precise and quiet focusing, with support for face and eye detection on compatible camera bodies. Internal focusing keeps the physical length of the lens unchanged during focusing, while AF and MF modes allow the user to select the appropriate focusing method for photography or video.

Compact Air-Series Design

The lens is designed around Viltrox's lightweight Air-series concept, making it particularly convenient for everyday carrying. The Sony E version measures approximately 65.1 × 54.4 mm and weighs about 205 g, while the Nikon Z version measures approximately 68 × 58.6 mm and weighs about 220 g. Despite its low weight, the lens uses a durable metal mount and a compact construction suitable for regular use.

Close-Focusing and Video Performance

The minimum focusing distance is approximately 0.51 m, with a maximum magnification of 0.11×. This allows the lens to handle portraits, still life, details and closer everyday subjects without requiring a dedicated macro lens. Minimal focus breathing helps maintain a more consistent composition during focus transitions, making the lens suitable for handheld video, vlogging and general video production.

Practical Features and Compatibility

The lens features a standard 58 mm filter thread and electronic communication with compatible camera bodies for EXIF data transmission. The front optical element has a water- and dirt-resistant coating, while the USB-C interface allows firmware updates. The AF 50mm F2.0 Air is available for Sony E and Nikon Z full-frame systems, with the L-mount version also available in the Air-series range.
