The Sony BP-U35 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed for compatible professional camcorders and video production equipment. Intelligent battery status monitoring

Sony’s INFO function continuously communicates battery status data to compatible cameras. Remaining capacity can be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor and viewfinder, allowing operators to check the available power without removing the battery. This information is useful when planning recording sessions, managing spare batteries and reducing the risk of unexpected interruptions during important takes.

Four-level LED capacity indicator

The BP-U35 features four LED indicators that display remaining capacity at 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% levels. This provides a quick visual reference when checking the battery outside the camera or preparing equipment before a shoot. The indicator also helps organise spare batteries and identify which units may need charging before the next recording session.

Voltage and charging time

The battery has a nominal voltage of 14.4 V DC and a maximum voltage of 16.4 V DC. When charged using a compatible Sony BC-U1A or BC-U2A charger, the approximate charging time is 90 minutes. Actual charging performance may vary depending on the charger, battery condition and temperature. Using a compatible charger helps maintain the intended charging process and supports reliable day-to-day operation.

Operating temperature and dimensions

The BP-U35 is specified for discharging at temperatures from −20°C to +45°C and charging at temperatures from 0°C to +40°C. Its dimensions are approximately 41.5 × 46.1 × 69.7 mm, allowing it to fit into a compact camera power setup without adding substantial bulk. These characteristics make it practical for production environments where equipment needs to remain lightweight and easy to handle.

The Sony BP-U35 is intended for compatible devices that use the Sony BP-U battery system. Supported equipment includes selected professional camcorders and the Sony ILME-FX6 Cinema Line camera.
