Full-Frame 24mm Perspective

The VILTROX AF 24mm F1.8 is a full-frame autofocus prime lens designed for Sony E and Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. Its 24mm focal length provides an 84° viewing angle, giving photographers a broad field of view while retaining a useful perspective for subjects within their environment. The lens is well suited to landscape photography, architecture, travel, interiors, street scenes, environmental portraits, and astrophotography, as well as general-purpose wide-angle shooting.

Bright F1.8 Aperture

The maximum F1.8 aperture provides good light-gathering capability for working in low-light environments and allows greater control over depth of field than a slower wide-angle lens. The nine-blade diaphragm helps produce smooth background rendering and rounded out-of-focus highlights. Combined with the 24mm focal length, the wide aperture can also be used creatively to place a nearby subject prominently in the frame while retaining a substantial amount of environmental context.

Advanced Optical Construction

The optical system consists of 11 elements arranged in 9 groups, including two aspherical elements and three ED elements. This optical configuration is designed to control chromatic aberration and other optical imperfections while maintaining high image resolution and contrast. The special elements are particularly useful when working with high-contrast subjects and point light sources, while the overall optical design is suitable for modern full-frame sensors where edge detail and clean rendering are important.

Close-Focusing Capability

The minimum focusing distance is 0.30 m, with a maximum magnification of 0.1x. This allows the lens to be used relatively close to the subject while preserving the characteristic wide-angle perspective. Close focusing is useful for photographing details, objects, food, environmental portraits, and foreground elements in landscape compositions. The internal focusing mechanism keeps the front element from rotating during focusing and maintains a stable external lens length during operation.

Fast STM Autofocus

Autofocus is driven by an STM stepping motor combined with a lead-screw mechanism and internal focusing. The system supports both AF and MF modes and is designed to provide fast and precise focusing with reduced operating noise. Eye-detection autofocus is supported on compatible camera bodies, making the lens practical for portraits and quick-moving subjects. Its focusing characteristics also make it suitable for video and vlogging, where accurate subject acquisition and smooth autofocus operation are important.

Compact Metal Construction

The VILTROX AF 24mm F1.8 combines a full-metal body with a relatively compact form factor for a full-frame F1.8 wide-angle prime. The Sony E version measures approximately 70 × 85 mm and weighs about 340 g, while the Nikon Z version measures approximately 70 × 86.7 mm and weighs about 370 g. A 55 mm filter thread supports widely available circular filters, while the supplied lens hood helps reduce unwanted stray light. A USB interface allows firmware updates, and electronic communication provides EXIF data transmission to compatible cameras.

Landscape and Everyday Wide-Angle Work

The VILTROX AF 24mm F1.8 combines a broad 84° viewing angle, bright F1.8 aperture, close-focusing capability, high-quality optical construction, and autofocus in a relatively portable package. It can serve as a practical wide-angle prime for landscapes, architecture, interiors, travel, street photography, environmental portraits, night scenes, and astrophotography. Its balance of field of view and optical performance makes it useful when the photographer needs to include more of the surrounding environment without moving to an ultra-wide focal length. The package includes the lens, front and rear caps, lens hood, storage bag, user manual, warranty card, and packaging.
