Natural 50mm Perspective

The VILTROX AF 50mm F1.4 Pro is a full-frame autofocus standard prime lens designed for portraits, street photography, everyday scenes, travel, still life and video production. Its 50mm focal length provides a 46.6° angle of view and a natural perspective with balanced spatial rendering. This makes it a versatile focal length for both environmental portraits and general-purpose photography, while remaining practical for indoor shooting and low-light work.

Bright F1.4 Aperture

The maximum F1.4 aperture provides strong light-gathering capability and allows photographers to work with lower ISO settings or faster shutter speeds when lighting conditions are limited. Wide open, the lens produces a shallow depth of field that separates the subject from the background and creates smooth, layered bokeh. The aperture range extends from F1.4 to F16 and uses an 11-blade diaphragm for controlled rendering throughout the range.

High-Resolution Optical Design

The optical construction consists of 15 elements in 11 groups and includes one ultra-precision aspherical element, three ED elements and eight high-refractive-index elements. This advanced configuration is designed to maintain high resolution from the center to the edges of the frame while controlling chromatic aberration, distortion and coma. The lens is engineered to retain detailed rendering even when used at the maximum F1.4 aperture, making it suitable for high-resolution full-frame camera sensors.

Dual HyperVCM Autofocus

Autofocus is driven by Viltrox's Dual HyperVCM system, which uses high-thrust voice-coil motors to move the focusing group quickly and smoothly. The system is designed for fast, accurate and quiet focusing, with support for face and eye detection on compatible camera bodies. Internal focusing keeps the external length of the lens unchanged during operation and contributes to responsive autofocus performance in both photography and video.

Close-Focusing Capability

The minimum focusing distance is approximately 0.45 m, with a maximum magnification of 0.145×. This allows the lens to move beyond conventional portrait and general-purpose applications and work comfortably with closer subjects, details, still life and product scenes. The combination of F1.4 aperture and relatively close focusing can produce strong subject separation while maintaining detailed rendering.

Professional Metal Construction

The AF 50mm F1.4 Pro uses a high-strength forged aluminum alloy body with a durable metal mount and professional-grade construction. The lens is weather-sealed against dust, splashes and moisture, while the front optical element features a water- and smudge-resistant coating. The Sony E version measures approximately 84.5 × 111 mm and weighs about 800 g, while the Nikon Z version measures approximately 84.5 × 113 mm and weighs about 830 g.

Professional Controls and Video Features

The lens provides a customizable Fn button, an AF/MF switch and a CLICK switch for controlling the aperture ring, giving direct access to important functions during shooting. Its minimal focus breathing helps maintain consistent framing during focus transitions, making it suitable for dialogue scenes, close-ups and cinematic focus pulls. A 77 mm filter thread supports standard photographic filters, while the USB-C port allows firmware updates and electronic communication provides EXIF data to compatible cameras.
