The VILTROX AF 56mm F1.2 PRO is a high-performance autofocus prime lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. Its 56mm focal length provides an approximately 85mm full-frame equivalent field of view, making it a versatile portrait focal length for headshots, half-body portraits, indoor photography, street portraits and everyday scenes where natural perspective and subject separation are important.

Ultra-Bright F1.2 Aperture

The maximum F1.2 aperture provides a very high level of light transmission while creating a shallow depth of field for pronounced subject isolation. It is particularly useful in low-light environments and for portraits where the background needs to transition smoothly into a soft blur. The 11-blade diaphragm helps maintain rounded, natural-looking out-of-focus highlights throughout the aperture range from F1.2 to F16.

Advanced Optical Construction

The optical system consists of 13 elements arranged in 8 groups and includes one Ultra-Precision Aspherical element, one ED element and three high-refractive-index HR elements. This combination is designed to maintain high resolution from the center toward the edges while controlling chromatic aberration and other optical imperfections. The optical design is optimized for detailed rendering even when shooting wide open at F1.2.

Natural 85mm Equivalent Perspective

On an APS-C camera, the 56mm focal length corresponds to approximately 85mm in full-frame terms, with a viewing angle of about 28°. This classic portrait perspective allows the photographer to maintain a comfortable working distance while producing natural-looking facial proportions and effective background compression. The lens is well suited to close portraits, half-body compositions, lifestyle photography and selected still-life subjects.

Dual HyperVCM Autofocus

The lens uses a Dual HyperVCM autofocus system designed to provide fast, precise and quiet focusing. The voice-coil motor system is capable of driving the focusing elements quickly while reducing vibration and operating noise, which is useful for both still photography and video. Minimal focus breathing also helps maintain consistent framing during focus transitions, while compatible camera bodies can use face and eye-detection autofocus.

Professional Metal Construction

The AF 56mm F1.2 PRO features a full-metal body designed for demanding everyday use. Its weather-sealed construction provides protection against dust, splashes and moisture, while the front element has a water- and smudge-resistant coating. The Fujifilm X version measures approximately 78.4 × 92 mm and weighs around 575 g, while the Nikon Z version is approximately 78.4 × 94.1 mm and weighs around 595 g.

Practical Controls and Connectivity

The lens features a 67mm filter thread and a USB-C port for firmware updates. The Nikon Z version includes dedicated CLICK and AF/MF switches, while the Fujifilm X version is designed without these switches due to the way Fujifilm camera bodies support lens control. The lens also supports EXIF data transmission and is supplied with front and rear caps, a lens hood and a storage pouch.
