Protective Camera Cage for Sony Alpha 7S III

The SmallRig SR 2999 is a full camera cage designed specifically for the Sony Alpha 7S III full-frame mirrorless camera. Its form-fitting construction surrounds the camera body and provides additional protection while creating mounting points for accessories used in photography and video production. The cage is suitable for handheld filming, tripod-based setups and more elaborate camera rigs, allowing compatible equipment to be integrated without replacing the camera’s original operating controls.

Durable Aluminium Alloy Construction

The cage is manufactured from aluminium alloy, providing a rigid structure for supporting accessories while keeping the overall setup manageable. Its precisely shaped frame follows the contours of the Sony Alpha 7S III and measures approximately 145.5 × 106.5 × 64 mm. With a net weight of around 220 g, it adds a stable mounting framework without the bulk of a larger rig system.

Secure Two-Point Camera Mounting

The camera is secured using a standard 1/4"-20 mounting screw, complemented by an M2.5 anti-twist screw attached through the camera’s strap mounting point. This two-point fastening system helps prevent the camera from rotating or shifting inside the cage during operation. The additional support is particularly useful when the rig carries handles, monitors or other accessories that may apply leverage to the camera body.

Versatile Accessory Mounting Points

Multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes allow compatible accessories to be attached in different positions. ARRI-style locating mounts provide additional support for compatible handles and articulated arms, helping reduce unwanted rotation of mounted equipment. These mounting options make it possible to configure the cage for different shooting requirements without relying on a single fixed accessory arrangement.

Integrated NATO Rail and Cold Shoe

A NATO rail is integrated into the left side of the cage for attaching compatible NATO-clamp accessories, including suitable handles and mounting components. The cage also features a cold shoe mount for compatible equipment such as compact microphones, wireless receivers or small lights. Together, these interfaces provide practical expansion options for building a camera setup tailored to the recording environment.

Access to Camera Controls and Connections

The form-fitting design preserves access to the camera’s essential controls, connectors and battery compartment. This allows the Sony Alpha 7S III to remain practical to operate while installed in the cage. Strap attachment points are also provided for compatible wrist or neck straps, while mounting holes on the front can accommodate selected separately available lens adapters and accessories.

Integrated Screwdriver and Compatibility

A screwdriver is built into the bottom of the cage, making it easier to tighten the camera mounting screws and perform basic adjustments without carrying a separate tool. The SmallRig SR 2999 is designed for the Sony Alpha 7S III and is compatible with accessories that use its supported mounting standards. The standard package includes one camera cage; handles, cable clamps, monitors and other accessories are sold separately.
