The GODOX AM1600R is a full-colour flexible LED mat designed for large-scale film and television production, studio environments, commercials, and demanding location work. With 1600W of output and available in 4×8 ft and 8×8 ft formats, it creates an expansive field of soft light while offering the colour control expected from a modern professional lighting system.

A Huge Source That Becomes Part of the Set

The AM1600R is built around a flexible LED mat and an inflatable butterfly frame, creating a large-area lighting source without the conventional bulk of a rigid frame. The frame inflates to 8 PSI in approximately three minutes and is designed to maintain its shape for up to 15 days without additional inflation, while its structural strength allows overhead installation without a traditional truss system.

Two Formats, Two Distinct Approaches to Soft Light

The system is available in 4×8 ft and 8×8 ft configurations. The 4×8 ft version provides a more concentrated large-area source, while the 8×8 ft format creates an exceptionally broad and soft field of illumination. Both configurations use the same controller, making the AM1600R platform adaptable to different production requirements.

A Full Colour Palette From 1800K to 10000K

The AM1600R offers a 1800K–10000K CCT range together with ±100% green-magenta adjustment. CCT, HSI, RGBW, GEL, and FX modes provide extensive control over both white and coloured light, while brightness can be adjusted continuously from 0% to 100%. This gives the system the ability to move naturally between subtle white-light correction and highly stylised colour work.

Professional Colour With Cinematic Control

With approximately CRI 96 and TLCI 97 performance, the AM1600R is designed for accurate colour reproduction across large-scale scenes. Fourteen built-in FX categories add dynamic lighting possibilities, while multiple dimming curves allow the response of the light to be adapted to different production styles and control requirements.

Modular by Design, Ready for Real Production

The LED mat uses a modular construction with Velcro fastening, allowing individual panels to be replaced without rebuilding the entire system. The rear D-rings can also be used to connect or expand the lighting surface, while detachable accessories such as grids and lantern-style modifiers provide additional ways to shape the large light source. A repair kit is included for practical on-set maintenance.

Professional Control for the Most Demanding Sets

The AM1600R supports DMX/RDM, LumenRadio CRMX, Ethernet with Art-Net and sACN, Bluetooth, and controller-based operation. Both the light body and controller feature IP54 protection, with Bluetooth control available at distances of up to 60 metres. Foldable components and a dedicated flight case further simplify transportation and storage, giving this exceptionally large lighting system a surprisingly practical production workflow.
