Two-Channel Stereo Amplification

The Sony STR-DH190 is a stereo receiver designed for listening to music through a traditional two-speaker audio system. Its two-channel amplifier delivers 100 W per channel at 8 ohms, measured at 1 kHz with 1% total harmonic distortion. This output provides a practical foundation for a home hi-fi setup, allowing the receiver to drive compatible passive speakers for everyday listening.

Designed for Vinyl Playback

The receiver includes a dedicated phono input for connecting a compatible turntable directly, without requiring a separate external phono preamplifier. The input provides the appropriate preamplification and equalisation for vinyl playback, making it suitable for listeners building a record-based stereo system. A phono volume offset function also helps balance the playback level of vinyl sources with other connected audio equipment.

Wireless Music Streaming via Bluetooth

Integrated Bluetooth connectivity allows music to be streamed wirelessly from compatible smartphones, tablets and other Bluetooth-enabled devices. This makes it possible to listen to digital music libraries and supported streaming services through the connected stereo speakers without running an audio cable from the source device. Bluetooth standby also allows the receiver to be switched on from a previously paired compatible device when the function is enabled.

Connections for Multiple Audio Sources

The STR-DH190 features four analogue audio inputs, allowing several external components to remain connected at the same time. These connections can accommodate compatible audio sources such as CD players and other analogue-output devices, while the dedicated phono input serves a turntable. An audio output is also provided for connecting suitable recording equipment, and a front-panel headphone output supports private listening.

A/B Speaker Output Configuration

The receiver supports Speaker A and Speaker B output connections, providing flexibility when organising a compatible stereo listening setup. Users can configure their system around the available speaker outputs, including a second speaker pair where appropriate. The specified speaker impedance range is 6–16 ohms, so connected speakers should fall within this range and the system should be wired according to the operating instructions.

FM Radio with Preset Stations

An integrated FM tuner provides access to terrestrial radio broadcasts without the need for a separate radio receiver. Up to 30 FM stations can be stored as presets, making frequently used stations easier to select. Automatic tuning and RDS support on compatible broadcasts help simplify station selection and can display available station information.

Compact Hi-Fi Component Design

The Sony STR-DH190 has a conventional component-style design intended to integrate with other home audio equipment. Its dimensions are approximately 430 × 133 × 284 mm, and it weighs around 6.7 kg. The receiver operates from a 230 V AC power supply at 50/60 Hz in the European version and includes an automatic standby function to reduce unnecessary power use when it is not actively being used.
