A versatile travel tripod for photography and video

The Manfrotto Befree Advanced 3-Way Lever Aluminium Tripod is a compact support system designed for photographers and videographers who need reliable camera positioning while travelling. It combines an aluminium tripod with a three-way fluid head, making it suitable for both still photography and video recording. The design is particularly well suited to mirrorless cameras and hybrid camera systems used for photography, interviews, travel footage and everyday content production.

Three-way fluid head for controlled movement

The integrated three-way head allows the camera to be adjusted along separate axes, providing precise control over framing and composition. Its fluid drag system supports smooth panning and tilting movements, which is useful when recording video or making deliberate adjustments to the camera angle. Independent movement controls help the operator refine the composition without unnecessarily disturbing other axes.

Foldable handles and travel-friendly construction

The head features folding control handles that reduce the overall size of the tripod during transport and storage. When the tripod is ready for use, the handles extend to provide leverage for controlled camera movements. The complete system weighs approximately 2 kg and folds down to around 40 cm, making it practical to carry in camera luggage or a travel bag without taking up excessive space.

Aluminium legs and quick lever locks

The aluminium legs provide a balance between structural rigidity and portability. Four leg sections allow the tripod to be adjusted to different working heights, while the lever-lock mechanism makes it possible to extend or secure each section quickly. The locks are easy to inspect visually, helping the user check that the legs are secured before mounting or operating the camera.

Adjustable height and shooting positions

The tripod reaches a maximum height of approximately 151 cm and can be lowered to around 42 cm for low-angle compositions. With the centre column lowered, the maximum height is approximately 132 cm. Three independent leg-angle settings allow the tripod to adapt to different surfaces and shooting positions, while the reversible camera orientation and head adjustments support both conventional landscape framing and portrait-oriented compositions.

Quick-release plate and accessory compatibility

The included 200PL-PRO quick-release plate is compatible with Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-type mounting systems. The head’s plate holder also supports Manfrotto 501PL video plates, offering additional flexibility for compatible camera setups. An Easy Link attachment on the tripod spider allows supported accessories, such as an arm carrying a light or reflector, to be added when the shooting setup requires them.

Load capacity and practical setup

The tripod has a stated safety payload of up to 6 kg under the UNI/PdR 105:2021 standard. This rating should be considered when selecting a camera, lens and accessories for the complete setup. Three bubble levels help with alignment, while independent pan and tilt locks provide control over the selected framing. The tripod is designed for operation in temperatures from −30°C to +70°C, although stability always depends on the surface, load distribution and correct setup.
