The Sony GP-VPT2BT is a wireless shooting grip that combines a comfortable handheld handle with a compact tabletop tripod and integrated remote camera controls. Designed for compatible Sony cameras, it helps users maintain a stable grip while taking photographs, recording video, creating vlogs, or capturing travel content. Its versatile construction makes it useful for both everyday shooting and more deliberate content creation.

Wireless Bluetooth Remote Control

The built-in remote commander communicates with compatible cameras through Bluetooth, eliminating the need for a physical control cable. The grip includes controls for still photography, movie recording, zoom operation with supported lenses, and a C1 button that activates the function assigned to the camera's corresponding custom button. This arrangement allows users to operate key camera functions while keeping their hand on the grip.

Integrated Tripod for Hands-Free Recording

The lower section of the GP-VPT2BT opens into three support legs, transforming the handheld grip into a compact tabletop tripod. This configuration is useful for self-recording, vlogging, group photographs, and stationary video where the camera needs to remain in position without being held. The tripod can be set up quickly, making it a convenient alternative to carrying a larger support system for lightweight shooting setups.

Flexible Tilt and Shooting Angles

The adjustable head makes it easier to frame subjects from different positions without adopting uncomfortable shooting postures. In grip mode, the camera can tilt upward by up to 80 degrees and downward by up to 90 degrees. In tripod mode, the tilt range is up to 40 degrees upward and 90 degrees downward. Dedicated 90-degree locking positions also support vertical shooting, while the adjustable head allows the camera to be repositioned for selfies or subject-focused recording.

Comfortable Ergonomic Design

The contoured handle is designed to provide a comfortable and stable hold during extended shooting sessions. Remote buttons are positioned for convenient access while the grip is being held, helping users make adjustments without changing their hand position significantly. The combination of a handheld grip and adjustable head is particularly practical when recording while walking, filming oneself, or changing composition frequently.

Dust and Moisture-Resistant Design

The GP-VPT2BT is designed to help resist dust and moisture during everyday use. Its wireless connection eliminates the need to connect a control cable to the camera, allowing compatible camera connector covers to remain closed. This helps preserve the camera's own protection, although the grip is not guaranteed to be completely dustproof or waterproof and should not be treated as suitable for heavy rain or immersion.

Compact Construction and Camera Compatibility

The grip measures approximately 49.5 × 173 × 42 mm with its legs folded and approximately 146.5 × 133.5 × 163 mm with the legs extended. The black version weighs about 215 g and the white version about 186 g, excluding the battery. Its maximum supported load is 1.5 kg, including the camera and mounted accessories. Compatibility depends on the camera model and firmware, so Sony's compatibility information should be checked before use; large or heavy lenses may also affect stability in tripod mode.
