Professional Cinema Line Remote Control
The SONY RM-DP7 is a 7.0-type remote control unit that combines professional camera control with high-quality monitoring in a single field-ready device. Designed for Sony Cinema Line productions, it allows operators to monitor footage and adjust important camera and lens functions from a position away from the camera. The RM-DP7 is particularly suited to solo operators, small production teams and professional sets where direct access to the camera is not always practical.
Large High-Brightness Full HD Display
The RM-DP7 features a 7.0-inch touch-enabled Full HD LCD with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and brightness of up to 2,000 cd/m². The high-brightness display is designed for reliable image visibility in bright outdoor environments. As well as serving as a camera-control interface, the monitor can be used as an external on-camera display through its SDI or HDMI inputs, making the unit useful in a variety of production configurations.
Precise Focus and Lens Control
The included detachable control knob provides tactile, high-resolution focus control without requiring a conventional gear-driven follow-focus setup. Through the Lens Control Page, the operator can monitor the image while making precise focus adjustments, with support for focus-point marking and mechanical-stop settings where compatible. The system also supports touch focus and touch tracking on compatible FX cameras, while compatible power-zoom lenses can be controlled through the monitor with adjustable zoom speed.
Integrated Camera Control Interface
The RM-DP7 provides direct access to frequently used shooting parameters through Sony's BIG6 home screen. Frame rate, ISO, shutter speed or shutter angle, ND filter or iris, Look and White Balance can be checked and adjusted from a single interface. Dedicated ITEM buttons, a HOME button, REC button, ASSIGN buttons, BACK button and multifunction dial provide physical access to important functions without requiring constant navigation through touchscreen menus.
Color-Accurate Monitoring and LUT Support
The monitor uses Sony's professional video monitor-grade color calibration technology, with each unit individually calibrated at the factory and continuous compensation for color-temperature drift during operation. The RM-DP7 supports six built-in LUT presets and up to 16 user LUTs, including 17-grid and 33-grid .cube files. This allows operators to monitor a more representative image when working with log-based recording and other professional color workflows.
Professional Connectivity and Power
The RM-DP7 is equipped with 12G-SDI input and output with cross-conversion capability, including 4K transmission, while HDMI Type A supports input and output as well as SDI output through cross-conversion. It also supports 1000BASE-T Ethernet for wired camera control and provides two USB Type-C connections for dedicated camera control and USB Power Delivery. A 2-pin DC IN connector is available for external power, while BP-U35 and BP-U70 batteries can be attached directly to the rear of the monitor.
Rugged Design for Production Use
The RM-DP7 combines a durable aluminum body with a design intended for demanding production environments, including dust and moisture resistance. Active heat dissipation with a built-in cooling fan supports stable operation during extended shooting, with selectable cooling modes including a quieter setting. The included grip provides secure handheld operation, while four 1/4-20 UNC mounting points allow optional transmitters and other accessories to be attached around the monitor. The package includes the control knob, two blank focus rings and the grip.
