Compact Cinema Line Control Monitor

The SONY RM-DP5 is a 5.0-type remote control unit designed for professional Cinema Line production. It combines a high-brightness Full HD touchscreen monitor with dedicated camera-control functions, providing a compact solution for monitoring, focusing and operating compatible Sony Cinema Line cameras during production. Its smaller form factor makes it particularly suitable for on-camera operation and mobile shooting setups.

High-Brightness Full HD Display

The RM-DP5 features a 5.0-inch Full HD LCD with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and brightness of up to 2,000 cd/m². The high-brightness panel is designed to remain clearly visible in demanding outdoor environments, while the touchscreen interface provides direct access to menus and camera-control functions. The display can also be used for detailed checking of framing and focus during recording.

Precise Focus Control

A major feature of the RM-DP5 is its detachable tactile control knob, which can be attached directly to the monitor for precise focus operation with compatible Cinema Line cameras. The knob provides smooth, high-resolution control without requiring a complex gear-based setup. The Lens Control Page allows the operator to monitor the image while making controlled focus adjustments, including focus-point marking and mechanical-stop settings where supported.

Touchscreen Monitoring and Focus Assist

The touchscreen provides additional tools for accurate monitoring and focus checking. Double-tapping the image can enlarge the selected area by up to 6x, while pinch gestures allow the operator to adjust magnification and move around the enlarged image. Additional functions such as peaking, aspect markers and de-squeeze assist can support framing, composition and focusing when working with different production configurations.

LUT Support and Color Accuracy

The RM-DP5 supports LUT-based monitoring, making it possible to preview a more representative final image while recording in S-Log3 or other compatible workflows. Up to 16 user LUT files can be imported in addition to six built-in presets. Each unit is individually color calibrated during production, helping provide a consistent and reliable reference image for professional monitoring.

Comprehensive Physical Controls

The monitor provides dedicated physical controls alongside its touchscreen interface. ITEM buttons 1–6, ASSIGN buttons 1–4, a multifunction dial, MENU button and LOCK switch provide quick access to frequently used functions while reducing the need to navigate through on-screen menus. Four strap attachment points at the corners also allow the unit to be carried or secured more comfortably during production.

Flexible Camera Connectivity

The RM-DP5 supports both wired and wireless camera-control workflows, with USB Type-C connections providing dedicated camera-control and USB Power Delivery functions. Ethernet connectivity through 1000BASE-T is also supported for wired camera control. The package includes a control knob, two blank focus rings and a detachable grip, allowing the RM-DP5 to be configured for different operating positions and used as a practical remote-control interface in professional Cinema Line productions.
