Professional Audio Recording for Cameras

The Sony XLR-K3M is an XLR adapter kit designed to expand the audio recording capabilities of compatible Sony cameras equipped with a Multi Interface Shoe. It provides physical connections and dedicated controls for professional microphones and other audio sources, making it suitable for video production, interviews, documentary work and event recording. By bringing audio connections and level adjustments directly to the camera setup, the kit helps create a more organised recording workflow without requiring a separate external audio recorder for every configuration.

Digital Audio Interface for Low-Noise Recording

When connected to a compatible camera with a digital audio interface in its Multi Interface Shoe, the XLR-K3M can transmit audio digitally to the camera. This reduces the need for an additional analogue conversion stage between the adapter and camera and helps minimise noise introduced into the signal path. A DIGITAL/ANALOG switch allows users to select the appropriate connection mode according to camera compatibility, providing flexibility across supported camera systems.

Two XLR/TRS Combo Inputs

The adapter features two balanced-style XLR/TRS combination inputs for connecting compatible microphones, mixers and other professional audio equipment. Each input can be configured for line-level or microphone-level signals, while support for +48 V phantom power allows the use of compatible condenser microphones that require external power. Individual input attenuation settings help accommodate different signal levels and provide greater control when working with a variety of audio sources.

Additional 3.5 mm Microphone Input

Alongside the two professional combo inputs, the XLR-K3M includes a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack input compatible with microphones that use plug-in power. This additional connection offers flexibility when working with suitable compact microphones or other compatible audio devices. The input selection controls allow the operator to choose which connected source is routed to the camera's recording channels, depending on the requirements of the shoot.

Independent Audio Level Controls

Dedicated switches and adjustment dials provide control over recording levels for the available inputs. Users can select automatic or manual level adjustment for supported channels, link the second input's level control to the first where appropriate, and adjust input
