The GODOX ML40R is a compact 40 W full-color COB LED light designed for filmmakers, photographers, vloggers, livestreamers, and mobile content creators. Its palm-sized body combines RGB color control, an exceptionally broad 1800–10,000 K range, built-in effects, wireless control, and an integrated battery for genuinely cable-free shooting.

40 W of Portable Lighting Power

The ML40R delivers approximately 40 W of continuous LED output in a body measuring just 97 × 46 × 91 mm. At around 422–425 g without the reflector, it is small enough to carry in a compact kit while still providing a practical directional source for key lighting, accents, background illumination, and tight shooting environments.

1800 K to 10,000 K for an Extraordinary Color Range

The ML40R goes far beyond conventional bi-color lighting. Its 1800–10,000 K CCT range allows everything from warm candle-like tones to cool daylight, while GM adjustment provides additional control over green-magenta correction. The result is a highly adaptable white-light source that can match existing illumination or create a deliberate visual contrast.

Full RGB, HSI, and RGBW Control

The ML40R provides full-color control through HSI and RGBW modes. Hue can be selected across the entire 360° range, saturation can be adjusted from 0 to 100%, and individual red, green, blue, and white channels can be controlled independently. This makes the light equally useful for subtle color accents and saturated cinematic lighting.

14 FX Modes for Dynamic Scenes

Fourteen built-in FX modes expand the ML40R beyond standard continuous lighting. They can simulate changing practical-light conditions and introduce movement, rhythm, and atmosphere directly into a scene, making the fixture useful for creative filmmaking and content production.

Built-In Battery for Cable-Free Shooting

The ML40R uses two integrated 3.63 V / 4800 mAh / 17.424 Wh lithium cells. Charging takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, while runtime at 100% brightness is around 42 minutes. USB-C input supports up to 60 W, allowing the compact fixture to remain practical for mobile and location work.

ML-L10 Lens Reflector for a Major Output Boost

The dedicated ML-L10 lens reflector concentrates the light into a much more focused beam and can increase illuminance by up to 16× on the ML40R compared with using the light without the modifier. This gives the tiny fixture considerably more reach when a stronger, harder directional source is needed.

Godox Mount, NFC, and App Control

The ML40R uses the Godox Mount accessory system, allowing the light to be adapted for different shaping and diffusion requirements. Control is available directly on the fixture or remotely through the Godox Light app, with NFC enabling quick pairing and Bluetooth communication reaching up to approximately 30 meters.
